Comprehensive bladder function testing to diagnose urinary problems and guide treatment decisions.
Urodynamic testing is a comprehensive assessment of how well your bladder, sphincters, and urethra are storing and releasing urine. These tests help diagnose the cause of urinary symptoms and guide treatment decisions.
Measures the speed and volume of urination to assess bladder emptying.
Measures bladder pressure during filling and emptying to assess function.
Combined pressure and flow measurements to identify bladder outlet obstruction.
Advanced imaging combined with pressure measurements for detailed assessment.
Most women find the test uncomfortable but not painful. A thin catheter is placed in the bladder, which may cause mild discomfort. The test typically takes 30-45 minutes.
You'll be asked to arrive with a comfortably full bladder. Avoid caffeine on the day of the test. Continue your regular medications unless advised otherwise.
Urodynamics may be recommended when initial treatments haven't worked, before surgery for incontinence or prolapse, or when symptoms are complex or unusual.
